Usenet Network

Usenet is a decentralized network, it works by each Usenet server sharing its information with all the other servers on the network. This propagation across servers makes Usenet an ideal place for storing information and data of all types. If a server is damaged (Message-IDs missing), the article can still exists on every other server in the network.

Best Usenet Provider Combo

These days completion is the most important factor for Usenet users. Retention is no longer an essential technical characteristic. Today many people find it necessary to have a backup block account to supplement their US based unlimited account in order to improve completion. So on this page we have listed The Best Usenet Provider Combo

Having multiple providers (or one main provider and one block account backup) increases the chances of you being able to find all the files you need. It may be missing on one provider but still there on another provider, particularly if your block account is a Dutch block. Backup is always a good idea. And blocks don't expire, so if they're hardly needed, then they'll last a super long time so the cost over time is minimal. They should work well together if they are on different backbones: Usenet Services Map. in simple terms, having some block accounts on different usenet providers (suppliers) who are not on the same "usenet network".

If most of what you pick up is automated (see Usenet Trinity), your unlimited should have you covered for 95% of what you want. Generally, the block account is used for backfills of missing data - Some people do more than one block. Just make sure your service provider and block aren't on the same backbone.

No single Usenet provider is good. You need at least 2 on different backbones (only one has to be unlimited, the rest can be block accounts which don't expire, to fill in the holes). Every provider has DMCA of content, and the ONLY way around that is multiple providers.

Unlimited Usenet (Primary) with Suggested Block Providers and Setup

Primary Usenet Provider Suggested Block Provider Usenet Current Setup

NewsHosting - $9.99 Unlimited (UNS Holdings backbone)

Newshosting yearly plan ($99) includes a free VPN, so that appears to be a great deal if you're happy with their performance, ie completion rates, file retention, VPN quality etc

Usenet.Farm  - 15€ / 500GB - Their prices are obviously really good (even without their deals). I like their 500GB block account for 15 EUR

I recommend Usenet.farm. They offer a 10 GB trial to try their platform out. The trial passed my tests. Completed the files I could not download in full from NewsHosting

Usenet.Farm owns its small cluster that can contain approx 30 days of data in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Usenet.farm uses backup providers XSNews (NL backend company) and Highwinds (US backend company) after their own retention to 1000+ days of retention.

This combo gets you access to 3 different backend providers (Usenet.Farm + UNS Holdings + XSNews): Usenet.Farm is a particularly good choice since they use their own retention and Usenet.farm uses XSnews after their own retention. XSNews is another Dutch USP.

I' m a big fan of Newshosting's desktop client and generally had a good experience with them.

Newshosting client v2.2.0 contains a very cool feature. Members have the ability to set up automatic searches. No more missing content or waiting too long because you didn’t get around to it in time. The new automatic search feature will check for your desired content hourly and download it once available

Eweka - 7.50 € Unlimited 50 Mbit (Eweka backbone)

Retention on Eweka is truly great (the only Dutch option with retention in line with Newshosting - 2750 Days retention!). This is very handy when finding older stuff from various forums or indexers (see Usenet Indexing services).

Usenet.Farm  - 15€ / 500GB - Their prices are obviously really good (even without their deals). I like their 500GB block account for 15 EUR

I recommend Usenet.farm. They offer a 10 GB trial to try their platform out. The trial passed my tests.

This combo gets you access to 4 different backend providers (Usenet.Farm + UNS Holdings + Eweka + XSNews): with only having 2 accounts.

Completion is also excellent with NZB RSS feeds. Sabnzbd support NZB RSS feeds. You just need to create a feed on a Usenet Indexer. When a feed is added on Sabnzbd, it will only pick up new items and not anything already in the RSS feed unless you press "Force Download".

To watch TV shows, this simple configuration with an indexer like OzNZB is very efficient.

Usenetbucket - 2,95 € / 10 Mbit (XSNews backbone)

or

ExtremeUsenet - 4 € / 4 Mbit (BaseIP backbone)

I especially like these two Dutch USPs for their low price. Retention is less than the US average. But when I want a file older than 1000 days I can find it with a Newsgroupdirect block account.

NewsgroupDirect

We are particularly fond of the NewsgroupDirect Terabyte Tuesday: 1 TB (1000 GB) blocks for just $40

It's cheap and I'm used to it and would probably recommend it anyway.

NewsgroupDirect offers more retention than UsenetBucket. I'm using a Newsgroupdirect block for longer retention and to fill in completeness

My Needs: I get new stuff but also like old old old stuff so I need blocks for those.

I still download Movies and TV shows manual because i'm downloading custom-subbed Dutch movies And I still like the manual search function. Using spotweb for that.

Spotweb is a Dutch system. Different programmes exist like Spotlite, Sponet 2.0 or web-based versions.

My favourite programme from Spotweb is Spotnet 2.0. The interface is great, translated into English, and you can search for films by category or thanks to a search engine. Users post a Spot including a SPOT file to download, an explanatory image and a description of the file.

Spotnet 2.0 uses NZBGet as a Newsreader for downloading, repairing and decompressing.

I personally use nzbget as external for adding the prepaid account from Newsgroupdirect as a second server.

Astraweb - $8 Unlimited (Astraweb backbone)

This unlimited US access is the cheapest monthly rate. Only $8/month!

Usenet.Farm  €15 / 500GB

I suggest Astraweb + Usenet.farm this combo gets you access to 4 different backend providers (Usenet.farm uses XSnews and UNS Holdings after their own retention + Astraweb) with only having 2 accounts.

Unlimited access to Astraweb est à utiliser absolument avec a fully automated system.

SABnzbd, Sickbeard, Couchpotato and Headphones are applications that help you create a fully automated system for downloading of TV Shows, Movies and Music. It works on Windows as well as Mac and Linux.

I mainly use Usenet-Crawler, NZBkeek, and OzNZB as my indexes.
