Usenet Network

Usenet is a decentralized network, it works by each Usenet server sharing its information with all the other servers on the network. This propagation across servers makes Usenet an ideal place for storing information and data of all types. If a server is damaged (Message-IDs missing), the article can still exists on every other server in the network.

50% savings - until friday!  Use couponcode 1YEAR50

XSNews is offering a Hot Deal: -50% on Basic, Pro and Elite packages.

What are the advantages of using European Tier-1 Provider XSNews?
    • XSNews is a tier 1 provider meaning they are independent
    • XSNews hosts server farms in the Netherlands.
    • XSNews does not enforce DMCA they follow NTD Gedragscode guidelines.
    • They have both block and subscription accounts. XSNews has three different flat rate packages and three different block accounts which all have unlimited speed.
    • There are more than 200.000 newsgroups with content and 1100 days retention waiting for you!
    • You may want to switch to a Top Tier 1 Usenet provider, because they tend to have faster speed than Usenet resellers

10/14/2017

$65/2TB and $15/500GB

Why get a block account from Newsgroupdirect?

  • They have the lowest prices on the market.

  • Newsgroupdirect has three servers so each one has different Message-IDs. This can seem unbelievable but when a takedown request happens the parts that are removed are never the same ones on each server even from the same provider. Each servers has different Message-IDs left on it. Adding them together you can easily get to 60-70%. For this you need a block account from Usenet provider with 3 servers (USA – NL – DE) so you increase your chances of completing files.

Which Usenet providers are compatible with Newsgroupdirect in order to set up a  full Message-ID completion?

There is only one rule to respect: don't use a provider that has the same backbone as NewsgroupDirect. Since all the Usenet servers from one backbone have the same files, articles, parts

  • Eweka backbone - Perfectly compatible. Eweka has an NTD takedown process. Newsgroupdirect will complete it with other Message-IDs from its three servers.

  • Tweaknews backbone - Tweaknews has 89,99 €/year special with Tweaknews backend (2500-day retention with good completion).

  • Base-IP backbone - the best Usenet server from this network is ExtremeUsenet. As well as completing any remaining pieces, Newsgroupdirect completes very old files since they have 3 times the retention.

  • XSNews backbone - the best Usenet server from this network is XSNews. As well as completing any remaining pieces, Newsgroupdirect completes very old files since they have 3 times the retention.

  • Usenet.Farm backbone - as well as owning its network, Usenet.Farm also has 1 reseller. With Newsgroupdirect you have up to 5 servers (2 from Usenet.Farm + 3 from Newsgroupdirect)

  • UsenetExpress backbone - UsenetExpress also owns their network, plus a Dutch network and servers based in the USA. We think they are the same as the ones from Newsgroupdirect, but they can be used together since UsenetExpress will download from its US server, on your unlimited package, and the block account from Newsgroupdirect will only be used to complete missing Message-IDs available on the European servers (Holland and Germany).

Here we go again. Notorious torrenting portal The Pirate Bay is getting blocked in the Netherlands yet another time.

A court in the Hague has ordered Dutch internet service providers Ziggo and Xs4all to cut all access to The Pirate Bay within the next 10 days

The best alternative to the Pirate Bay is USENET

Usenet's advantages are much greater:

  • Connection speed matches your bandwidth, and remains constant. This means a Usenet user can download whenever they like without worrying about ratio, uploads… With Usenet, downloading is unlimited. Usenet is faster than the fastest of Torrent Trackers
  • Downloading is secured by SSL. So your downloads are not monitored. Confidentiality of usage is respected.
  • High anonymity since there are No Logs, no monitoring and SSL comes for free.
  • Downloading from Usenet today is easier than ever before.

If you combine Eweka with the Spotnet protocol, you are all set. It’s the easiest and most efficient way to download about anything.

UsenetExpress expands local retention to 90 days

UsenetExpress is a Hybrid Usenet Service Provider to ensure that your articles and completion rates are up to scratch. UsenetExpress is both a Tier-1 provider (has its own network and retention) and resells from two other Usenet providers. By combining a multitude of different Usenet providers into one single, UsenetExpress gives you a main server and 2 backup servers for the price of one

A short overview of UsenetExpress:

  • Server URL is: news.usenetexpress.com
  • Hybrid provider. Some small local retention (90 days) and then 1100 days from 2 backup servers
  • A full year of access costs only $90
  • That's a US server, but the front page says they're going to add EU at some point.
  • Explicitly states that they absolutely do not log.
  • 50 connections by default
  • UsenetExpress members can connect using 256-bit SSL (TLS 1 or 2) at no additional cost
  • Accepts CC, PayPal. Bitcoin, Bank Transfers and other options listed as "coming soon".
  • Uploading allowed.
  • 30 day free trial (generous)
  • VPN incuded

At the price of $90 for unlimited use with SSL, UsenetExpress is a very good deal. Compared to its competitors, UsenetExpress is miles ahead with this newsgroup offer based on Hybrid Access.

1000 GB - $70
2000 GB - $130

Contrary to what many might think Usenet is growing year by year and Block accounts is a great way to discover Usenet or improve Usenet experience.

Block accounts have multiple purposes. They're not supposed to be used as the primary method of downloading but as a backup:

People use block accounts to try to get articles that fail to download from the main account. Different providers remove different parts of the download (Message-IDs) so using multiple providers increases the chances of the download completing.

Your main unlimited has a shorter retention period and you want a backup in case you need to go back further.

In any case, if you still want to go ahead with the block account, you want one from a different backbone than your main account because if the main account responds to DCMA and they own/feed the block too, it may end up removing the same posts on the block account.
