Upload / Post Binaries to Usenet

  • Camel System PowerPost: Camel PowerPost System is an application that you can easily posts in binary newsgroups. The program include PAR2 support and NZB.
  • JBinUP: Freeware client for uploading binary files. Two notable features: JBinUp checks that all of your files were posted successfully and will reupload missing parts - Support for SSL connections

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMES : Check files - Repair files - Extract files - Cut and paste - Write to disk

A few years ago these were separate tools but from now on Newsreader mainly integrate these functions in their service.

Check files: All posts are complete or not on the usenet server ? Completion rates across all major providers are all pretty high. Unfortunately, even a small amount of missing articles can cause problems. NZB Cimpletion Checker helps you to decide, if the NZB file is complete enough for you to download. For people who pay for each downloaded GB, this could save them some GB or a way to check NZBs before waste time and bandwidth

NZB Completion Checker: Test nzb files before you download them. NZB Completion Checker can be used to make sure that all the files parts are available from your Usenet server account before you download them

Repair files: Sometimes missing files block the total extraction of a file within the Newsgroups In fact completion is never 100% across all groups. For this reason posters post more RAR files than PAR files which allows reparation of the total RAR files posted. They reconstruct missing binary files on Usenet.

Other versions:

  • MultiPar: New file repairer with Windows
  • MacPar: Version for Mac
  • Parchive: Version Linux

Extract files: On Usenet, Newsgroup servers sometimes impose a limit on the size of files posted. So files are cut into parts with a maximum number of lines. A 700Mo file might be cut into 40 or so RAR files, each 15 Mo.

  • WINRAR: the best file extractor. Winrar perpetually offers a free trial period - Windows - Mac - Linux
    • Once RAR files are associated with Winrar, opening a RAR file is easy – just double-click on the first RAR file in a sequence – the file probably called File.part1.rar or File.rar
Click on “ extract to... ” and choose the destination of the file.
    • Extract part of the total files. A clever option to view a video. If the file is a compressed RAR video it is possible to just view a section. Click on the first RAR in the sequence .rar or part1.rar and select “keep broken files” before extraction. Even a 15Mo RAR can be extracted, enough to view the first few minutse and check the quality of the video with VLC

Other versions:

  • 7-Zip: Free programme. For Windows. Good quality. If your files are compressed in a 7z format you need 7-Zip. But 7-Zip will open all other formats like RAR or ZIP. However it cannot only extract part of a file like Winrar - Windows - Mac - Linux

File splitters: How do you use 001 002 and xtm files? There are other programmes to divide files before posting on Usenet:

  • XTM files - xtm extension: An XTM file is a file split in parts using XtremSplit. Just load the 001.xtm file into the programme - Windows
  • Split files - 001 002 extension: the sole function of HJ-Split is to decompress files with the extension 001, 002 - Windows. Open the programme and, instead of clicking on Split, click on Join. Using InputFlies go to the location of the compressed file and choose the first one (with extension .001). Then click on Start and Hj-split will do the rest
  • Quickpar File Split - avi.001 avi.002 extensions: Although not the most modern file format, they are the simplest in our opinion. You just need to click on the first avi.001 file and Quickpar will check all of the files then extract and reassemble to create your avi file.

Other options:

  • Ajoiner for Mac: Ajoiner allows you to stick files of the same type together again, as long as they use the Mastersplitter convention
  • Split&Concat for Mac: Split&Concat is an essential programme for cutting and joining xtm files with a Mac
