Best Block Usenet Providers

NewsgroupDirect Block Review

Newsgroupdirect's usenet block account plans are the cheapest. Newsgroupdirect is our favourite Usenet provider for block accounts:

  • Use the UNS Holdings network, the largest network in Usenet

  • Great technical characteristics: Multiple server locations: US + NL + DE - 50 SSL connections - sharing authorised - posting authorised - Free headers - Days retention

  • The best promotions of all Usenet providers for block prepaid accounts: Blocks from Newsgroupdirect are regularly on special offer. For example you can get 2TB blocks for just $70!

You can use Newsgroupdirect with Eweka Unlimited or Tweaknews Unlimited or XSNews Unlimited

Tweaknews Block Review

Tweaknews is the best Dutch Usenet provider for prepaid accounts. Tweaknews is very popular for fills for:

You can set up a Tweaknews block into Newshosting Newsreader. NewsHosting Browser V 2.6.3 implements a new service called "Backup NNTP". The general idea is that you can add a block account from Tweaknews to help you get downloads that Newshosting doesn't have for various reasons. Newshosting Newsreader activates your Tweaknews block account only if needed to download missing files.

Tweaknews has their own backbone

You can also use the free newsreader service (UsenetWire) included with block accounts.

With TweakNews, you get 2,500 days of binary retention

All block plans boast a maximum speed of 100 Mbps

You can sign up for their 10 day/10 GB free trial

The block account works fine! Personally I use Newshosting (unlimited) + Tweaknews (100gb block) and haven't had many issues. Newshosting and Tweaknews as block is the best combo I have found.

UsenetExpress Block Review

Launched in 2017, UsenetExpress is a new Usenet provider based in the US. This service is a tier 1 provider - UsenetExpress has a cluster in Ashburn, Virgina with 1100 days retention.

UsenetExpress is offering block accounts: 500 GB block $20 one-time. And they 're OK with account sharing on block accounts!

UsenetExpress is a good option to fill in the gaps from your primary provider (see if your primary usenet account is in on the same backbone as UsenetExpress Block)

Usenet.Farm Block Review

Usenet.farm is one of the best Dutch tier 1 Usenet service provider based in the Netherlands.

  • It uses its own Dutch Usenet network (Tier-1 provider) for the first 30 days.

  • The price. Only €15/per payment for 500 GB (€0.03/GB) and account sharing is allowed!

  • Free trial offer of 10 GB to test the completion of the Usenet.Farm Network

EasyUsenet Block Review

EasyUsenet is Usenet provider in the Netherlands. Their Usenet feed comes from XSNews.

They have both block and subscription accounts. But you may want to consider EasyUsenet is as a backup provider, EasyUsenet Block account may be more suitable.. EasyUsenet Block accounts are great for this: Completion and article availability are why people purchase block accounts.

Why a Block Account?

A block Usenet access is a set allocation of download capacity. We’ve also seen them called pay-per-download plans. Dutch Usenet Providers also use the term: Prepaid account

What is the difference between a block account and an unlimited account

Adantages of using Block - Prepaid accounts:

  • What is the difference between a block account and an unlimited account: Block accounts (Prepaid accounts) are non-expiring, Once clients buy a quota block, they can keep downloading until they have used up the purchased quota block. Sometimes Block accounts can be cheaper than Unlimited plans depending on your usage.

  • A block account is for someone that doesn't download much, or needs a backup for missing files. You pay for a download amount, for example 5GB, and it never expires. So there are no reccurring monthly fees.

  • Offering wide range of block size options. 2 GB to 4000 GB

  • My ISP provides Usenet and I have a block account to fill the missing articles as my ISP has very limited retention.

  • Block accounts are an easy, no-commitment way to use Usenet

  • Block account server as a fill server (backup server - slave server). Why should I have a block account on top of my unlimited account?: The reason you would get a block account is so if your primary unlimited account is missing parts of something, you can (usually but not always) use your block account to get them. The block account should only be used as a backup when something isn't complete (Having multiple Usenet provider increase the chances of you being able to find all the files you need). That way you are not paying full price for two unlimited accounts. Block account server as a fill server (backup server - slave server). The fill server will only fill in a few articles that your master servers don't have.
